Biography of Chunyi Lu
Chun-Yi Lu, the elderest brother of Chunyee Lu, is a member of the first violin section of the Phoenix Symphony. He began his violin studies with his father, at age of five, in his native China. He made his solo debut at the Shanghai Opera House two years later.
After receiving his diploma from Wuhan Conservatory in China, Lu continued his musical studies in United States. He earned hi bachelor's degree fro the New England Conservatory of Music, and later, his master's degree from the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut.
Prior to joining The Phoenix Symphony, Lu performed with and served as concertmaster for the Harrt Symphony, the Worchester (Mass.) Symphony and the Cape Cod Ballet Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with symphonies throughout New England, the Eastern United States and China, and most recently with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra. Lu has spent summers serving as concertmaster of the Festival de Artes de Itu in Brazil at the invitation of Eleazar de Carvalho, and the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming. He also can be heard on recordings he has made with the Shanghai Philharmonic, the Shanghai Film Philharmonic, the Shanghai Ballet and the Shanghai Opeara Theater.
